John Heinrich & George Schipporeit, architects of Lake Point Tower, were inspired by a sketch done by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1922. Completed in 1968, Lake Point Tower, 645 feet, was then the highest building in the world. This 70-storey building is located on the peninsula which leads to Navy Pier, one of Chicago's most popular tourist attractions. The 120 degree angle between the wings protects the building from direct winds. Its curves prevent residents from looking into each other's unit, and each window has a view of Lake Michigan.
